Great information here - reading through it, you didn't miss a thing. And good to meet you yesterday. Thanks for this.

Great write up (far more detailed than mine) and a good summary of the event - it must have taken ages to write it up. My only criticism of the event was really it was a case of preaching to the converted. I'd like to have seen the naysayers sit through a couple of the presentations...

    John V Willshire

Thanks both, I find blogging it while I'm there is about the best way to capture everything... the important stuff will drift to the top over a few days. I may do a follow up 'main points' post at some point.

Phil, on the 'preaching to the converted' point, I completely agree... but the more the converted share amongst each other, the more evidence they'll have to say to their companies 'we GOTTA do this...'

    Hi John,

Great blog - really enjoyed revisiting the conference and you added some really valuable insight too!

I think that it will be interesting to see, once the 'pioneers' of corporate social networking encourage colleagues to take up new tools, how it changes not only the way they work internally, but the way they do business too.

    John V Willshire

I think you're right, Zeinab, it's going to change how people do business in the future... I think Euan Semple said rings true here: 'it's about people doing business with people they trust'...

...well, in five years time, you might only buy everything, right down to groceries, from 'people you trust'.

Brilliant write up - thanks so much John! Just on the use of social tools for sustainability and CSR, Naked's work with Nokia developing their 'Power of We' sustainability platform (which won the Grand Prix at the Green Awards) is very much an internal comms project which depended in no small part on the use of corporate social networking to get employees engaged (see more here - http://www.greenawards.co.uk/past_winners/case_studies/nokia_-_the_power_of_we. Worked fantastically well - shame it's not harnessed more!

    John V Willshire

That Nokia case study is great, Katy, thank you. I think more and more companies will have to sort their own internal communications first, as it's a great way of not only making your company happier, more productive and united, but it helps you test ways in which you might want to talk to customers.
